Planning Your Lagos Event Calendar

There’s truly never a dull moment in Lagos. Are you into art, tourism, technology, food, music, or traditional culture? Lagos has something special waiting for you every month of the year.

My advice? Pick a few events from different categories and plan your year around them. I usually mark the events I don’t want to miss on my calendar early—especially the popular ones.  For tech events, I’ve found that early registration often comes with discounts and better networking opportunities.

If you’re visiting Lagos, try to time your trip around one of the major festivals. There’s something magical about experiencing a city during its celebratory moments. The energy is different, the people are more open, and you get to see Lagos at its absolute best.

For locals who, like me, sometimes feel like you’re just going through the motions of Lagos life—commuting, working, sleeping, repeat—these events are your chance to break the routine and rediscover the vibrant spirit of this city. I’ve met some of my closest friends at Lagos events, discovered new favourite restaurants at food festivals, and learned things about Nigerian culture I never knew despite being born here.

The beauty of the Lagos event calendar is its diversity. You can spend a Saturday morning at a tech conference, afternoon at an art exhibition, and evening at a jazz concert, all in the same city.

Follow the organizers on social media to stay updated on dates and ticket information, as details can change. And don’t let traffic discourage you—leave early, bring a friend, make it part of the adventure.

Lagos is waiting to be explored, one event at a time. See you out there!
